Easy like Sunday morning... French toast with a cinnamon twist
I couldn't decide what sounded better.. cinnamon rolls or French Toast so I decided to make both! French Toast Cinnamon Roll Ups and we loved them. These are quick and pretty easy to whip up. Something the whole family could help with and enjoy or just for two. Or you, who's judging!
The best part is they are completely customizable to your needs. For example, I used Ezekiel bread for mine but you could use any bread you want! Some you may have to flatten more than others but anything will work (except sourdough or something hard/rough edged). I used date syrup as the filling but you can use a maple syrup mixture, almond butter, Nutella, peanut butter, really whatever spread you like! Make sure to add cinnamon on top before rolling up ;). Add some chocolate chips if you like, too! You can use any kind of milk you prefer and oil in place of butter.
See what I used below and how easy it is to make these French Toast Cinnamon Roll Ups
INGREDIENTS:
4-5 slices of bread
1 pasture raised egg
1/4 cup almond milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp butter (or oil)
Maple syrup for topping
Date syrup or filling of choice
DIRECTONS:
Make egg mixture and set aside.
Flatten your bread with a rolling pin or a glass.
Add filling to the bread and spread evenly. (I used date syrup)
Sprinkle a healthy amount of cinnamon over top and begin to roll.
Roll each piece of bread as tightly as possible and dip them in egg mixture.
Place into buttered pan and cook on medium heat turning occasionally until all sides are browned to your liking (about 10-15 minutes).
Serving for 2, double the recipe for more.
Enjoy! If you make this recipe share them with me HERE! I love seeing your creations. Xx
